WOWK 13 News partners with Habitat for Humanity for Founder’s Day

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — We’re trading in our microphones and cameras for hammers and drills for Nexstar’s annual Founder’s Day of Caring .

13 News is partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Kanawha and Putnam County and the ReStore to give back to our community.

You’ll see 13 News journalists and employees at the Charleston ReStore and the Teays Valley ReStore. Our volunteers will also be on Charleston’s West Side building a home.

Nexstar started Founder’s Day of Caring in 2016 as a way for our journalists across the nation to give back to the community. Our employees are given paid time off to volunteer.

In 2023, Nexstar said 240 organizations were served, 5,700 people volunteered and 17,523 total hours were donated.
