    West Virginia Day celebration planned at State Capitol

    CHARLESTON, WV (WVNS) – June 20th marks the 161-year anniversary of the creation of West Virginia.

    To recognize this, a celebration is being held at the State Capital and Culture Center in Charleston on Thursday, June 20th.

    West Virginia residents can ride on the Hatfield-McCoy Trails for free on West Virginia Day

    This celebration is hosted by the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History.

    Festivities begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Capitol’s main building.

    Refreshments will be provided, and First Lady Cathy Justice will be cutting the West Virginia birthday week.

    For those who want to indulge in history, the State Museum and Culture Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
