CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — The Kanawha Charleston Humane Association (KCHA) is getting ahead on the Independence Day celebrations.

From Tuesday to Friday, the shelter will be holding a Fourth of July adoption special featuring kittens, cats and dogs over 6 months old at just $4. Puppies are also being discounted to $95.

According to the KCHA Facebook page, the shelter is at critical capacity and needs help finding its occupants their forever homes.

“Right now we are at overcapacity, which sounds redundant, but at this point we have animals that are living in bathrooms and offices. Our senses is getting really, really high. So if you were looking to foster or adopt this, take this as your sign to do so over the holiday weekend,” said Angie Gillenwater, KCHA Community Engagement Manager.

The KCHA shelter is open from noon to 6 p.m.
