CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — The Pugh Furniture company has decided to close its doors after 108 years of business.

The company opened in 1917 as a wholesale retailer but then became open to the public during the 1970s. Since the company opened it has been operated by the Pugh family. However, the current owner has decided it’s time to start a new chapter.

“I’d like to cut back. I have two wonderful grandchildren, and I want to spend some time with them and maybe do some traveling,” Beth Pugh, owner of Pugh Furniture said. “And I’ve been down here for 30 plus, 36 years. So, I’m sort of ready to switch gears, so to speak.”

Pugh said the decision wasn’t easy but is thankful to their customers for their support during this transition.

The store is holding a sale to get rid of the rest of its inventory before the store closes its doors.
