CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Kids of all ages were just bursting with excitement Wednesday afternoon at the Kanawha County Public Library where they were able to make their own bubbles.

The bubbly fun is a part of the Summer Library Club, where kids can participate in fun programs, attend events, and advance their reading skills.

This afternoon’s Bubble Adventures activity would not have been possible without Robert Edsel Young, who has spent nearly 45 years as an entertainer. Recently, he has added bubble-making to his craft and says that he loves bringing joy to people’s faces, both young and old.

“I think the kids really enjoy it … I like that they can come and think of something besides, well not so much what’s going on in our world today with the kids, but the adults get to come and escape too,” says Young.

The bubbly solution is a simple recipe that you can recreate at home. To get the best bubbles, make sure you are using hot water, dawn soap, baking soda, and vegetable oil. Although, if you really want to avoid a mess, you may want to leave the soapy water to the professionals.

The library is continuing its Summer Library Club series into the weekend with an art therapy session on Saturday, July 13 at 2 p.m. You can register at kcpls.org . Registration for the event is mandatory, and art supplies and snacks will be provided.
