    Mental health organizations and first responders join forces at upcoming CIT summit

    WEST VIRGINIA (WTRF) — The West Virginia 988 and CIT Summit is quickly approaching at the end of the month.

    The summit brings together organizations from all over the state to discuss the importance of mental health resources and how to best help people in crisis.

    Groups like the crisis intervention team, individuals who assist 911 dispatchers and first responders with people in a mental health crisis, will be there to discuss their experiences.

    “Emergency medical services, law enforcement, behavioral health, people with lived experience with mental illness, people who are advocates, people from all over the state to talk about what they’re doing and see if everyone can get ideas from each other and see how we can all work together.”

    The conference will take place in Charleston from July 29 th to July 31 st .
