Charleston restaurant makes Yelp’s top 25 hot dog spots to visit

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – While it may be fun to fire up the grill and make your own hotdogs and burgers, some people enjoy trying specialty hot dogs from restaurants. And Yelp is helping foodies find some of those local spots in towns around the country.

The folks at Yelp used their data from total volume and ratings of reviews to create a list of the top 25 hot dog restaurants around the country that you should try at least once, and Charleston, West Virginia’s Super Weenie made the list.

Super Weenie Owner Jason Myer first established his business in 2016. It started as a hot dog cart before turning it into a brick-and-mortar shop in downtown Charleston. According to the business’s Facebook page , the folks at Super Weenie “specialize in great, WV-style hotdogs (with hand-made coleslaw) and very unique hotdogs.”

The business is located at 805 Quarrier Street between Capitol Street and Hale Street. They’re open for lunch between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Super Weenie currently has a rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars on Yelp with 50 customer reviews and took the 13th spot on the list.

The full list includes restaurants from around the country, with Harley’s A Hot Dog Revolution in Littleton, Colorado, taking the top spot. Other states with a restaurant on the list include Kentucky, Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, Hawaii and more.

The Yelp team says they tried to list only one to two restaurants per state to make sure there was a variety on the list. Of the 25 restaurants that made the cut, only two are from the same state – Arizona. They were Señor Bob’s Burgers and Dogs in Sedona and Leo Hot Dogs in Chandler.
