    Charleston apartment building fire now under control

    UPDATE: (6:17 P.M. Tuesday, July 30) – Crews say a fire at a Charleston apartment building is now under control.

    According to crews on scene, the fire started on the third floor of the Cavalier Apartment Building. They say they are still investigating to determine what caused the fire.

    Crews say it appears that no one was home at the time of the fire and that the apartment appeared empty. No one was injured in the fire.


    CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Crews are responding to a fire at a Charleston apartment building, dispatchers say.

    According to Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers, the call came in around 5:21 p.m. Tuesday regarding a fire at the Cavalier Apartment Building in the 1300 block of Virginia Street East.

    There is no word at this time if anyone has been injured or how many apartments are impacted.

    Dispatchers say Virginia Street, a one-way street, is currently shut down at Morris Street to at least Bradford Street due to the response.

    The Charleston Fire Department, Charleston Police Department and Charleston EMS are responding.
