    James Hoyer appointed to City Holding Company Board of Directors

    CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Major General (retired) James A. Hoyer has been appointed to the City Holding Company Board of Directors it was announced on Wednesday.

    Hoyer’s appointment will be effective immediately and Hoyer will stand for election by company shareholders at the next yearly meeting which is set to take place in April of next year.

    Hoyer’s educational history includes his earning of an undergraduate degree from the University of Charleston as well as a master’s in management and public administration from the West Virginia Graduate College. He also holds a certificate in Identity Management from the Naval Post Graduate School as well as a master’s in strategic studies from the US Army War College.

    Beginning in 2011, Hoyer served as The Adjutant General for the State of West Virginia, with his service concluding a decade later in 2021. In the role, he provided command guidance to the West Virginia Army and Air National Guard of over 6,500 airmen and soldiers.

    Additionally, Hoyer led the West Virginia Joint Interagency Task Force, overseeing responses to many major security events and emergencies such as the COVID pandemic.

    Currently, Hoyer serves as Vice President for Economic Innovation for WVU , as well as Senior Advisor for the Civil Military Innovation Institute. He is also a Board of Advisors member with Fidelis New Energy LLC.

    “We are thrilled to have General Hoyer join our Board of Directors,” City Holding Company Board Chairman, Dallas Kayser says. “His extensive leadership experience as well as his risk management experience will complement the expertise of the City’s current Board.”

    City Holding Company is the parent company of City National Bank of West Virginia and is headquartered in Charleston, West Virginia. City National operates nearly one hundred branches across multiple states in addition to those found in West Virginia including Kentucky, Virginia, Ohio.
