Pickup truck attempting to pass in Montcalm County hits car head-on, killing one
MONTCALM COUNTY, Mich. — A Greenville woman is dead and two others are seriously hurt after a head-on collision Friday afternoon. The Montcalm County Sheriff's Office said just after 7:30 p.m. on Friday, deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on West Stanton Road near North Johnson Road in Pine Township.
Port Huron to Mackinac Race comes to an end
Sailboats are crossing the finish line up at Mackinac Island as the 100th Bayview Mackinac Race begins to wind down. The race got off to a slow start, being delayed nearly two hours Saturday due to lack of wind on lower Lake Huron. Wind conditions changed later in the day, giving a boost to some of the larger and faster boats in the race. The first to cross the finish line was Wizard in Class A shortly after 1pm Sunday. The leader for much of the race was Maverick, who also won the Chicago to Mackinac Race, but had to withdraw due to a mast failure. As of Monday morning, much of the fleet was in a line between Mackinac Island and Rogers City. The remaining boats are expected to finish Monday afternoon.
