‘Reptiday’ in Charlotte County brings in hundreds of exotic animals
People in Southwest Florida looking to add another member to the family but wanting something a bit more unique than a dog or cat had their pick for hundreds of reptiles and exotic animals. The one-day event gave them the chance to adopt and grab supplies for their new addition.
LETTER: Rhetoric, situation pointed to threat of violence
We all need to stop this rhetoric of hate and violence. Wait a minute, “we all” are not responsible. “You all” should stop spewing hateful rhetoric, intolerance, division and violence. By promoting dehumanization of women, race, religion and gender “you all” have created this tragedy, our young are the victims, years of social media bullying, hate, lies and propaganda.

Places from the Venice Social Club to the Jackpot Zone in Port Charlotte, closures coincided with recent arrests of two men in Port Charlotte, and less than a month prior to a major adjustment to Florida’s gambling law.
Housing study: Most can't afford to rent here
PORT CHARLOTTE — Progress toward a deal for the last parcel of Murdock Village may help offset some of the housing needs highlighted in a regional housing study. Charlotte County's Affordable Housing Advisory Committee discussed the Florida Housing Coalition report's findings, as well as its hopes for affordable housing within the proposed Port Charlotte development.

Charlotte County Tobacco Free Partnership meetingThe Charlotte County Tobacco Free Partnership will hold its quarterly meeting at 3:30 p.m. July 22 at the Family Service Center Building, 21500 Gibralter Drive, Port Charlotte. The partnership is committed to educating others about tobacco use, helping protect youth from tobacco and nicotine products, and strengthening local policies, especially those that protect the public from secondhand smoke.
