The Salty Donut , an artisanal donut shop and coffee bar focusing on chef-made, small-batch craft donuts, is getting ready to open a new location at The Bowl at Ballantyne .

The company’s newest site, and second in the Queen City, is opening in a 2,283-square-foot space between North Italia and Bossy Beulah’s, according to the Charlotte Business Journal . Husband-and-wife team Andy Rodriguez and Amanda Pizarro-Rodriguez opened the company’s first Charlotte location in South End in early 2023. They are now getting ready to open another location in the area in Fall 2024.

Ahead of the opening, The Salty Donut is treating Run! Ballantyne 8K, 5K & Fun Run participants to a tasty preview of their artisanal craft donuts, according to a recent announcement from the newest shopping, dining, and entertainment district. With its commitment to incorporating homemade and locally sourced ingredients, The Salty aims to foster a deep connection with the South Charlotte community. The company will host pop-up events next month from 10 am to 2 pm on May 7 and May 21.

“The expansion underscores the brand’s national acclaim for its inventive flavors and craftsmanship, as recognized by esteemed publications such as Thrillist, Food & Wine, and Tasting Table,” according to the announcement. “Co-founders Amanda Pizarro-Rodriguez and Andy Rodriguez celebrated for their entrepreneurial vision, have transformed The Salty Donut from a humble pop-up business to a 15-store operation.”
