Salted Melon Market & Eatery Expands with New Eastover Location

Salted Melon Market & Eatery is set to open its second location, this time in Eastover, with future growth plans on the horizon. Leveraging the counter service success of its flagship location, the new outpost will lean into its quick service format, at 815 Providence Road, Co-Owner Thomas Coker , Friday told What Now Charlotte in a telephone interview.

The 2,378 square-foot space, formerly home to Hubee D’s , will undergo minor renovations such as refinishing the walls, new millwork, and furniture, according to Coker. The space will also benefit from the addition of a patio but no heavy construction is expected.

“…our new location will be the perfect place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, grabbing coffee or a smoothie between meetings or appointments, or setting up a remote workspace,” Salted Melon this week announced on its Facebook page. “The Eastover location will feature Salted Melon’s signature healthy, everyday gourmet menu, including all-day breakfast, salads, bowls, sandwiches, wraps, smoothies, tea, coffee, and espresso—all available through counter service.”

Coker and the Salted Melon team take possession of the space on June 1, 2024 , with an expected mid-August debut.

At its existing location, at 100 W Worthington Ave #107, Salted Melon on June 4 is launching a smoothie program utilizing a newly-installed smoothie bar alongside its coffee and espresso equipment, Coker said. The new addition is in keeping with the strategy to expand the restaurant’s counter service option.

Looking ahead, Coker envisions future Salted Melon locations will follow this smaller, more manageable model. He plans to open multiple locations within the Charlotte market over the next few years, with potential expansion to Raleigh and Charleston. Locally, by 2025, Coker anticipates adding two additional units, with eyes set on SouthPark, Uptown, or Ballantyne.

Nestled in the heart of South End Charlotte, The Salted Melon Market & Eatery bills itself as “a unique culinary experience. Convenience blended with gourmet offerings that will surprise and delight even the most discerning palates.”
