The 4th of July is this week, and you’ll need to plan ahead if you want to party for the holiday and purchase any alcoholic beverages.

Independence Day is one of many holidays when all ABC stores across North Carolina are closed in observance of the day, including in Charlotte.

“No ABC store shall be open, and no ABC store employee shall sell alcoholic beverages, on any Sunday, New Year’s Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day,” according to the ABC Commission of North Carolina website. “A local board may otherwise determine the days on which its stores shall be closed.”

You can buy liquor before or after the holiday at locations across Mecklenburg County.

Some grocery stores will still be open on July Fourth if you want to purchase any beer or wine:

    • ALDI: Open for limited hours

    • Food Lion: Open during regular business hours

    • The Fresh Market: Open during regular business hours

    • Harris Teeter: Open during regular business hours

    • Lidl: Open during regular business hours

    • Publix: Open during regular business hours

    • Sam’s Club: Open 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. for plus members and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. for club members.

    • Target: Open during regular business hours

    • Trader Joe’s: Open until 5 p.m.

    • Whole Foods: Most stores open with modified hours
