CHARLOTTE ( CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE ) — Long-time NFL wide receiver and former Clemson Tiger Martavis Bryant thinks there’s still a place for him on the Panthers roster.

Bryant met with Panthers’ Senior Assistant Jim Caldwell via Zoom on Friday, in hopes of getting the team’s attention for an invite to training camp. Caldwell speaks with many players every day with players trying to break into or get back into the league.

It’s no secret the Panthers were one of the worst teams in terms of offensive production last year. Part of that was a need for a better wide receiver core.

Adam Thielen led the way with 103 catches and 1,014 yards, but other than him it was hard to find a bright spot.

With the additions of former Gamecock Xavier Legette in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft and traded for Diontae Johnson , is there still a need to improve the wide receiver room?

DEEP DIVE INTO CURRENT PANTHERS WIDE RECEIVER ROOM:

A team source tells Charlotte Sports Live that the Panthers are not in the market for a wide receiver, but Bryant says he’s got more in the tank even if it’s not with the Panthers.

“I got a lot of football left. I still love the game, never stopped loving the game,” Bryant said on why a team should take a chance on him. “I had to take some time to reflect on myself… and I did that. I put in a lot of work. There’s still so much left I can do. I know I can help contribute to help some team, to somebody that wants to give me an opportunity.”

Bryant’s roller-coaster career has plenty of highs and lows. He broke out in his rookie season with the Steelers in 2014 with eight touchdowns in 10 games. However, after that, he’s been suspended three different times for violating the NFL substance abuse policy.

In 44 career NFL games with the Steelers and the Las Vegas (Oakland, at the time), he has totaled 17 touchdowns and 2,183 yards on 145 receptions.

Bryant has signed with teams in the CFL and XFL. He was last on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad before getting released back in January.
