Former NBA All-Star Kemba Walker announced his retirement from basketball on Tuesday.

Now just one day after his decision, Walker has been announced as the Charlotte Hornets' "Player Enhancement Coach" under newly-hired head coach Charles Lee.

Walker suited up for the Bobcats/Hornets for eight of his 12 NBA seasons, finishing his career as the franchise's all-time leading scorer (12,009 points). After stints with the Celtics, Knicks and Mavericks, he finished his basketball career with one season on the Euroleague's AS Monaco.

“Basketball has done more for me than I could’ve ever imagined, and I am super thankful for the amazing journey I’ve had. With that, I’m here to share that I am officially retiring from the game of basketball," Walker wrote in a statement.

“This has been a dream. When I look back, I still can’t believe the things I achieved in my career.”

Walker will assist the development of a young Hornets roster led by LaMelo Ball in the 2024-25 NBA season.
