Inner Peaks to open third climbing gym on N. Tryon

Inner Peaks, an indoor climbing gym with locations in South End and Matthews, will open its third Charlotte-area facility this fall.

Why it matters: It's one of the handful of anticipated tenants coming to the Foundation Supply campus, a large redevelopment of a former business center at 1801 N. Tryon St. , between Optimist Park, NoDa, and Camp North End.

What to expect: A nearly 20,000-square-foot indoor climbing gym; 7,000 of those dedicated to bouldering walls. It'll also house a multi-purpose fitness area and a yoga studio.

    • Membership grants access to all locations and starts at $84/month. Day passes are $23.

Zoom in: The equipment will be more modern and in line with a "new-age climbing aesthetic," explains Megan Cheek, Inner Peaks regional sales and marketing manager. This means it will resemble the climbing seen in competitions like the Olympics.

What's next : Inner Peaks will have a grand opening celebration for the new location once an opening date is finalized.

    • The company also plans to make improvements to its existing locations, Cheek tells Axios.
