Humidity returns Friday with heavy rain possible to the east

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — After a lovely humidity break Thursday, the moisture is back starting Friday due to low pressure near the coast.

That means not only more humidity, but some showers and storms as well. The rain is needed, but it may end up being too much of a good thing for some cities and towns east of Charlotte. A Flood Watch has been issued for Friday for Anson and Richmond counties, with 2-3 inches of rain possible, along with isolated higher amounts.

It’s feast or famine with this system: Heavier rain will likely stay east of Charlotte, so much of the piedmont, mountains and foothills could only get a few tenths of an inch at best. Those amounts are definitely not drought busting! Showers will be few and far between for the weekend.

Temps will be a bit cooler for Friday, but the heat is right back on for the weekend and next week. Highs will reach the low and mid 90s, nearing 100 early next week!

Tonight: Clouds increase. Few showers late. Low 73.

Friday: Clouds and some sun. Scattered showers and storms. High 88.
