Duke Energy says they had to cut power to the area after a construction worker nearby “made contact with the powerline.” No injuries have been reported.

The Mecklenburg EMS Agency did confirm that they responded to an electrocution call near the intersection, but the person declined to be taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Duke Energy continued that its equipment was damaged in the incident. Power was restored for most before 7:30 p.m.

The Charlotte Fire Department says there are lane closures in the area.
