CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — An east Charlotte man pled guilty this month to charges stemming from a series of break-ins and thefts at car dealerships.

In three separate incidents from July 2023 through September 2023, court documents show that Robinson broke into car dealerships at night, located keys to vehicles, then used the keys to drive away or attempt to drive away the vehicles.

Judge Carla Archie sentenced Robinson to 50-72 months in prison. Robinson also admitted to violating the terms of his probation for a previous conviction. Archie revoked that probation and activated his suspended sentence of 15-27 months. That sentence will run concurrent to the new sentence.

As part of the plea, Robinson also admitted to one count of the status offense of habitual breaking or entering. He was last arrested in October 2023 by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Robinson was one of seven defendants convicted the week of July 1. Five of them were sentenced to prison:

    • Gary Crawford, 38, obtaining property by false pretense and felony possession of stolen goods
    • Andre Newton, 54, attempted trafficking in cocaine
    • Mark Henderson, 53, felony breaking or entering and larceny after breaking or entering.
    • Tyrone Sharperson, 30, selling methamphetamine and selling or delivering cocaine.
    • Daniel Summers, 45, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
    • Jimareo Sherrill, 31, felony financial card fraud.
