The shocking parallels between the 15-1 Panthers and 2024 Buffalo Bills

It's fair to say the 2015 Carolina Panthers were one of the most unique and dominant teams in recent NFL history. Lead by their stud dual threat quarterback Cam Newton, the Panthers had to overcome the lack of weapons surrounding their signal caller, mostly relying on an elite athlete at tight end, a strong running attack, and a defense that was as well oiled as any thanks to their sturdy defensive minded head coach.

Sound familiar? Buffalo Bills' head coach Sean McDermott has ironically enough constructed a team that mirrors the team that got him the job as head coach in the first place as he was the defensive coordinator for that Super Bowl Panthers team. With Josh Allen bleeding weapons after the loss of Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis, Allen will be reliant on the teams aggressive running attack and their two prolific tight ends in Dawson Knox and Dalton Kincaid. The Bills defense is as solid as ever behind the veteran head coach, anchored by monsters in the middle of the field in Matt Milano and Ed Oliver.

The narrative surrounding Josh Allen and this Bills team is strikingly similar to that of the Panthers of that season. Can Buffalo capture the same magic that Carolina did in 2015? Allen certainly has the skillset to put an offense on his back. Only time will tell, but hopefully if the Bills does end up in the big game, they can perform a little better than the Panthers did.
