CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — After reports of an armed person, the Levine Jewish Community Center was on lockdown for about 45 minutes on Thursday, according to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.

Just before 5 p.m. on July 18, authorities received reports of an armed person on a school campus in the 5000 block of Providence Road outside of school hours.

Officials say two people were involved in a dispute, one of whom had a gun. However, there was not a shooting.

Officers and park security searched the area, and the Levine Jewish Community Center and Foundation of Shalom Park were put on lockdown for under an hour.

No arrests have been made. Authorities stress that this is an isolated incident and was not targeted based on race or religion. There is no active threat.

The following statement was released on behalf of Shalom Park:

“Today there was an issue at the LJCC that necessitated the intervention of both Shalom Park Security and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department who was already onsite. CMPD requested that Shalom Park go on lockdown due to an abundance of caution. After 45-minutes CMPD determined that there was no current or continuing threat to Shalom Park or its visitors. No harm occurred to any Shalom Park visitor or staff member. Normal operations have resumed.”
