CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — DMV customers across Charlotte were also dealing with the ongoing impacts of Thursday’s tech outage.

Customers piled into DMVs Saturday after the outage knocked out service on Friday.

Driver’s license offices and license plate agencies were unable to help customers.

DMV officials resumed services Friday afternoon, but frustrated customers reached out to Queen City News saying some people were being turned away.

“Oh, it’s a major inconvenience, especially with the fact that I think they’re unstaffed too” Keith Hoist told QCN as his son was inside getting his driver’s license. “For this to happen, then how it normally runs, it’s automatically a circus, nah, it’s a pain.”

Hoist says it took over an hour for his son to get his license and that the DMV near UNCC was the third location they tried in the last three days.

He said they also went to a location in Kannapolis and another on Arrowood Road in south Charlotte.

Queen City News reached out to DMV officials but have not heard back.
