As Day 1 of the ACC Football Kickoff commences, media members flocked to Charlotte, North Carolina's Hilton Charlotte Uptown hotel to hear updates and soundbites from the conference's executives, coaches and players alike.

What many college football fans immediately noticed was the presence of multiple large banners self-promoting the conference, with one in particular sticking the most.

The conference had a large banner displaying the logos of all 17 football members (Notre Dame is a member of the ACC in all sports outside of football) with the words "Toughest Non-Conference Schedule In The Country" written in bold lettering.

Fans swiftly mocked the conference's banner in force, with most laughing at the perceived weak college football programs.

"Toughest non conference schedule because no good teams are in the ACC lol," one fan commented.

Another fan replied to Ross Dellenger's tweet by questioning whether this statement was something to brag about.

"Is this something to brag about? It's like saying we can't wait to play our conference games cause it's a lot easier," the fan stated.

One fan just laughed at the statement by stating, "'Toughest non-conference schedule in the country' 😂💀"

With the majority of the focus on Day 1 of the ACC Football Kickoff directed at the statements from conference commissioner Jim Phillips regarding the ongoing litigation between Clemson and Florida State, the ACC found a way to escape from the social media mockery rather smoothly.

The ACC's first official game of the 2024 college football season kicks off on Aug. 24 when the Florida State Seminoles take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic at noon (ET) from Dublin, Ireland. The non-conference ACC schedule also begins later that day when the SMU Mustangs visit the Nevada Wolf Pack at 8:00 pm (ET).
