Reggie Jackson will sign a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers after clearing waivers with the Charlotte Hornets

Reggie Jackson, 34, arrived to Charlotte in a July trade with the Denver Nuggets. He now plans to reconnect with former Los Angeles Clippers teammate Paul George on the Sixers.

Before the Hornets trade, Jackson exercised his $5.25 million option for the 2024-25 season. This was part of the two-year, $10.25 million contract he signed with Denver last July.

The 6-foot-2 guard will now join Philadelphia’s backcourt rotation. According to the Basketball-Reference database, this includes All-Star Tyrese Maxey, Kelly Oubre Jr., Eric Gordon, and rookie Jared McCain.

Jackson was selected 24th overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2011 NBA draft out of Boston College. He played his first 3½ seasons (2011-15) with OKC, and made stops with the Detroit Pistons (2015-20), Clippers (2020-23), and Nuggets (2023-24).

Jackson has averaged 12.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 853 career regular-season games

Through 853 career NBA games (529 starts) across his 13-year career, Jackson has averaged 12.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 25.2 minutes per game while shooting 42.4% from the floor, 34.5% from 3-point range, and 85.4% at the free throw line.

His most productive season came with the Pistons in the 2015-16 season, when he averaged a career-high 18.8 points and 6.2 assists per game in 79 starts.

Moreover, Jackson averaged 17.8 points on 40% 3-point shooting in the Clippers’ 2021 playoff run to the Western Conference finals. In addition to winning a championship with Denver in 2023, he averaged 3.5 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 9.8 minutes in 12 playoff games this year.

Last season, Jackson played in all 82 regular-season games and averaged 10.2 points, 3.8 assists, and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 43.1% from the field and 35.9% from deep.

In Denver’s 113-104 win over the Clippers on Nov. 27, 2023, he recorded season highs of 35 points and 13 rebounds in 40 minutes as a starter. He finished 15-of-19 (78.9%) shooting from the floor and drained three 3-pointers.

Besides signing Paul George this offseason, the 76ers also brought in role players such as Eric Gordon, Caleb Martin, and Andre Drummond. They re-signed Kelly Oubre Jr. and Kyle Lowry as well.
