Charlotte roaster Night Swim Coffee will open a new shop in late 2025 at Queensbridge Collective , a 42-story apartment tower going up quickly where South End and Uptown meet.

Why it matters: This is the first business announcement for the development's nearly 25,000 square feet of retail.

    • A mix of local and national brands have committed to "most of the retail space for the project," said James Anderson, vice president for developer Riverside Investment & Development, in a press release.

Driving the news: Night Swim will open with the first phase of the development. The 409-unit tower, where Uptown Cabaret used to be at 1111 S. Tryon St., will be the second-tallest residential building in the Carolinas.

    • Work on a second tower is expected to start quickly after the first, "given ongoing interest in the office component and expected improvement in market conditions," Anderson said.

Zoom out: Night Swim is one of Charlotte's fastest-growing coffee chains, along with Summit and Waterbean Coffee .

    • The roaster is a unified venture between the owners of Not Just Coffee and Undercurrent Coffee.

What they're saying: "Since first seeing the Queensbridge project, it immediately stood out as one we wanted to be a part of," James Yoder, co-founder of Night Swim Coffee said in a statement. "The beautiful architecture, quality and design stand out in a sea of new developments in the city."
