Mood House opens its long-awaited Oakhurst location on Thursday, Aug. 1.
Why it matters: The popular massage studio already has about 600 monthly members; that's in addition to the more than 1,400 monthly members that subscribe to its Dilworth location — another sign Charlotte is in its wellness era.
What to expect: Mood House Oakhurst offers massage and infrared sauna services and a private patio for clients to unwind with tea after each service.
- It has eight massage rooms, one two-person sauna room and two solo sauna rooms.
What they're saying: "We really want you to feel transported," owner Cristina Wilson tells Axios, adding that the experience is fully sensory.

There's a small retail section with products like candles, sleep masks and other toiletries for sale so you can "take that stress-melting concept home with you," Wilson says. Photo: Laura Barrero/Axios
How it works: After you check in, you "choose your mood" (awake, abundance, clear, calm) by sniffing four scents placed along what Wilson calls the "mood shelf."
- The massage rooms are sound-proof and play relaxing music through surround sound speakers. They also have an "I'm ready!" button that alerts your therapist when to come in.
- Expect heated tables, weighted eye pillows and blankets, and whatever scent you choose when you walk in will provide aroma therapy throughout your session.
- You can book a separate sauna session to enjoy after your massage or sit back and relax on their outdoor patio.

Cost: Memberships range from $92 for "the ritual" package, which includes one 50-minute massage per month, to $153 for "the oasis" package which includes one 50-minute massage and three infrared sauna sessions per month.
- Members can use their massage credit, gift it to someone else, or roll it over to the next month.
- A la carte services range between $112 for a 50-minute massage to $150 for an 80-minute signature massage.
- Solo infrared sauna sessions are $20 for members and $40 a la carte.
