CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — The Panthers are donating a replica of the team’s gameday “Keep Pounding” drum to Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital, the team announced.

The drum will be donated on Wednesday in memory of eight-year-old Rosell Hynson who sadly died earlier this year following a battle with rhabdomyosarcoma. Patients at the hospital get to hit the drum at the end of their treatment.

While Hynson was undergoing treatment, she continued to ride horses, do gymnastics, sing, dance and cheer on her Carolina Panthers.

Panthers’ Hall of Famer Sam Mills coined the phrase “Keep Pounding” in his speech to his teammates on the eve of Super Bowl XXXVIII while he fought intestinal cancer.

Atrium Health and the Panthers will also host two Levine Children’s Hospital patient experiences during training camp practices on Aug. 5 and Aug. 12.

Kids will get to sit in an exclusive VIP section, participate in on-field activities with players and coaches, and attend a special autograph session.
