Outgoing Mecklenburg County Manager Dena Diorio will get a pay raise in her final year in office.

County commissioners voted 6-2 Wednesday night to give Diorio an 8% raise, bringing her total compensation to $545,024.92. Commissioners Laura Meier and Susan Rodriguez-McDowell voted against the motion, and Commissioner Leigh Altman was absent from the meeting.

One year ago, the board gave Diorio an 8% raise and a one-time bonus of $25,000. Her salary has more than doubled since her tenure began in 2013. She announced in August her plans to retire in July, the start of the next budget year.

“It has been the honor of my life to serve the residents and employees of Mecklenburg County,” Diorio said at the time.

Her latest performance review found Diorio “exceeded expectations” in the last year, Commissioner Arthur Griffin said.
