Is New England calling, but you don’t have time for a getaway from Charlotte right now? Turns out, you don’t have to travel all the way to Maine to get quality lobster rolls and tails. Wednesday, Sept. 25 is National Lobster Day, and there are several lobster dishes at local restaurants worth celebrating.
Did you notice there was another National Lobster Day back in June? It’s celebrated twice every year , on June 16 and Sept. 25. This month’s is the newer one — it was created by the U.S. Senate in 2015. No matter when you celebrate, here are some of our local favorites:
What to order: Boujee Soul Food’s Collard Green & Lobster Wontons ($15) includes lobster tail meat, savory collard greens, spices and cheese; fried in a crispy wonton. You get five pieces, served with sweet and sour dipping sauce.
What to order: At Brown Bag, go for a lobster roll, served warm in a toasted bun. It comes with with truffle-parm tots ($34). Note: Credit and debit cards.
What to order: Burtons Grill’s signature lobster rolls ($29) are offered seasonally, starting July 1. The rolls — stuffed with knuckle and claw meat — are served cold and lightly dressed with lemon and a touch of mayonnaise, or hot with melted butter and lemon.
What to order: Lobster and crab crepes ($25 at lunch or $28 at dinner). On Friday nights, you’ll also have the option of ordering a full lobster dinner ($52).
