Hurricane Helene approaches: Check out closures for restaurants + bars, parks, events

Heavy rain, high wind and possible floods are in the forecast as Hurricane Helene makes its way through the Carolinas on Thursday and Friday, which means some restaurants, entertainment venues and small businesses are temporarily shutting their doors.

Before heading out, check businesses’ social media to see if the spots you’re interested in are open. But to get you started, here’s a list of local businesses and events that are making adjustments during the storm:

Betty by Moxie Mercantile

Status: Betty Bookworms is canceled Friday

Brooks Sandwich House

Status: Closed Thursday and Friday

Camp North End

Status: The Crossroads Cinema and Farmers Market scheduled for Thursday have been canceled .

Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatics

Status: Closing at 7 p.m. Thursday . The facility will reopen at 10 a.m. Friday.

Status: All county offices, solid waste centers, recreation and senior centers, libraries, parks, nature preserves and nature centers will be closed on Friday . That includes:

• Tax Collector’s Office
• Register of Deeds Office
• Land Use and Environmental Services Agency
