It was another blowout loss for the Carolina Panthers .

The Chicago Bears ran all over head coach Dave Canales’ squad and dominated in a 36-10 thrashing on Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field in Chicago.

The Panthers’ offense found its only score early in the game Sunday, with running back Chuba Hubbard breaking away from the defense as he raced to a 38-yard touchdown in the first quarter. But their opponent went on to find the end zone four times — including a pair of scores from former Panther DJ Moore — and Carolina was facing a 27-7 deficit at halftime.

Here are the highlights from Canales’ postgame news conference.

    Dave Canales opening statement

“A rough one. It just comes back down to the basics of it. Give up 17 points off of turnovers, and then another one off of a failed fourth down. So, a 24-point swing right there. It’s just right back to the drawing board, third down, trying to figure out a way so that we can continue our drives and get into a rhythm. We opened up with a great drive, the run game looked good, their defense was fantastic. They settled in and made it challenging on us.

“But something that we really have to attack there, because the more we leave our defense out there, it’s just over and over. We did not play complimentary football today. It gets really hard, and then the turnovers make it worse. This is something we’ve gotta look at, without having watched the film, that’s just the ‘what it felt like’ for me happening live. We’ll get right back to it, and this is where that mental discipline of going right back to work, telling the truth about the things that we can shore up, and just attacking another week.”

On the new Panthers’ injuries, including Jadeveon Clowney

“We’ve got to deal with what we have, and I’ll have more information once we look at it and evaluate it. But this is a contact sport. And the thing I have to say is our guys play the game right. They play it hard and physical, and they’re looking to hit and finish these tackles, and they’re playing with such great effort. You put yourself in situations where you can be vulnerable, and I always go into the games, and I’m just hoping that we could play this style.

“You always just hate when it happens, but it’s part of our game. Like I said last week with Josey (Jewell) and Shaq (Thompson) , it’s guys playing the game the right way. The way it’s supposed to be played. And we’re going to continue to do that.”

Why Andy Dalton didn’t take as many deep shots

“It was a mix of it. Again, third downs. When a defensive line is fresh, and they can rush, it helps when you extend the drive and you can take those shots. Maybe that’s one me — mixing in those shot plays too — just so we can get those opportunities down the field. Because good things happen. Sometimes you make the play, sometimes you get a defensive pass interference and you get an extension of the drive or yards that way.

“I don’t know what this day would have come out of. We have to just do better. We got to do better on third down, we have to get off the field so we could play complimentary football. That’s the goal, to try and get us back to playing good football like we did the past two weeks.”

On playing Bryce Young late against a younger defense

“I just saw it as an opportunity there. We had a couple of injuries on the offensive line, and again just wanting to get him in there just to get some live reps. He did a fantastic job playing with energy, extending plays, finding some completions down the field, which is all fantastic. It’s a hard situation.

“At that point, it was just like, ‘OK, with all these different (injuries) happening to the offensive line, it was something where I wanted to get Andy out of there and just give Bryce a chance.”
