Man charged with arson, accused of setting two churches on fire
Fulton County, NY (WRGB) — A Broadalbin man is facing multiple felonies after police say he set two different churches on fire. According to state police, in conjunction with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, Fulton County Office of Emergency Management and the Bureau of ATF and Explosives arrested Leon G. Nadeau, 39, of Broadalbin, Thursday charging him with two third-degree counts of arson and one fifth-degree count of arson.

Crews responded to Adirondack Harley-Davidson on Bellen Road in Mayfield on Thursday around 8:15 p.m. for reports of a fire. Once there, crews found heavy smoke was in and coming out of the roof of the building, said Fulton County Emergency Management.

Broadalbin-Perth Jr./Sr. High introduces swim lessons to physical education curriculum
During the past school year, junior high students were given the opportunity to take swim lessons at the Johnstown YMCA. From February to April, students were bussed to the YMCA during their physical education classes, where they were able to take swim lessons in the pool. The partnership began when Broadalbin-Perth athletic director Tucker Gifford reached out to the YMCA about a collaboration. The YMCA was incredibly receptive, allowing students to take over six weeks of swim lessons.
15th annual Pull for a Cure in Argyle benefits fight against cancer
15th annual Pull for a Cure in Argyle benefitting cancer organizations. The Argyle community and people beyond those boundaries have helped donate nearly a quarter of a million dollars through an annual truck and tractor pull. The event was created in the memory of Carl Lufkin, who died from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2008. The all-day pull is Saturday, July 20 just off Main Street in Argyle.
