UPDATE: Tire blowout causes injury wreck on Kansas Turnpike in Chase County
A Topeka man suffered apparently minor injuries and was hospitalized in Emporia following a wreck on the Kansas Turnpike southwest of town. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 59-year-old David Parnell was driving a box truck northbound when he had a tire blowout near mile marker 113, or a mile east of the Flint Hills cattle pens exit and 14 miles southwest of Emporia. The truck went off the highway and hit a culvert.

Five area athletes got to lace up the spikes one final time as high school football players over the weekend. Chase County’s Tucker Groh, Micah Cauthers and Brock Griffin, Madison’s Lane Darabo and Lebo’s Grayson Shoemaker got a chance to play in the 8-man football DI and DII All-Star Games in Beloit on Saturday.
Two Emporians arrested on drug charges following traffic stop in Chase County
Two Emporia residents were arrested in Chase County following a traffic stop Friday evening. According to the Chase County Sheriff's Office, on Friday, June 6 around 2:50 a.m., a Chase County Deputy stopped a car for speeding along US Highway 50 around mile marker 310.
