Michigan lawmakers target how "flushable" wipes are marketed
(CBS DETROIT) - Michigan is at the forefront of a national push to police plumbing by passing a law that requires manufacturers of moistened wipes to place labels on their products warning "Do Not Flush.""It's sort of an uncomfortable topic to talk about," said Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller. A proposal to give veterans free access to state parks failed to make Michigan’s budget. The initiative would’ve been funded by changing how Michigan residents each year renew their state recreation passport, which grants vehicle access to 103 state parks along with boat launches and other state-managed recreation facilities.

$1.15B Great Lakes dam project enters construction phase
The states of Michigan and Illinois signed an agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to cosponsor construction of the $1.15 billion Brandon Road Interbasin Project, which will prevent invasive carp and other aquatic nuisance species from entering the Great Lakes, per a July 1 news release from Michigan Gov.
