The search for a Carrboro man ended tragically after authorities said he drowned in Jordan Lake, the third drowning at the lake since May and the fifth this year. Eduardo Martinez, 52, of Carrboro, drowned Tuesday while swimming in Jordan Lake in an area near the intersection of Martha’s Chapel Road and Farrington Road, according to the Chatham County Sheriff's Office.
Goldston Public Library announces free July programs and events
Goldston, NC – Goldston Public Library is excited to announce free programs and events during the month of July for the Chatham County community to enjoy. Goldston Public Library invites the Chatham community to the library for a pop-up Q & A session about gardening, lawns, landscapes, native plants, and house plants. The NC Cooperative Extension Master Gardener volunteers of Chatham County will be on hand to answer these questions. Volunteers can also help participants learn to access and use the online resources available at no cost from the NC Cooperative Extension.

Jen Shaefer along with her father, Mark Shaefer, are planning to bring "The Skyroom" to 247 Callies Haven Way off Moncure Pittsboro Road. The 7,000-square-foot building, which has a Moncure address just outside Pittsboro and is located near Chatham Park, can accommodate up to 250 guests and will start hosting events in June of next year.
