(WLUC) - A U.P. artist is celebrating the sisterhood between Marquette and its Japanese sister city on Wednesday. 2024 marks the 45th anniversary of Marquette’s sisterhood with Higashiomi, Japan. Jacob Darner, a Marquette artist, is celebrating with a new exhibit called ‘Japanese Treasures.’ He curated memories, artifacts, and other treasures from the private collections of several Marquette Area Sister City Program Board members.
Velodrome Coffee’s new owners promise to keep customer favorites
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - A Marquette County coffee chain is now under new ownership. MQT Hospitality Inc. is the new owner of the Velodrome Coffee Company. Velodrome Founder Bryce Sturmer said the chain began serving coffee in Marquette in 2017. After moving the original store from Washington Street to Third Street in Marquette and adding another location in Ishpeming, Sturmer explained that now was the ideal time to sell.
