    Chatham's Non-Profit Computer Science Education Program 'CS Base' Receives NJ Governor's Volunteerism Award

    HAMILTON, NJ -- Chatham High student Ishir Rao represented the Chatham-based computer science education program CS Base when it received the New Jersey Governor's Volunteerism Award during ceremonies held recently at the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton.

    CS Base , a non-profit educational organization, spreads free computer science education across New Jersey and beyond. The award represents the state's official recognition for community service in partnership with the Governor's Council on Volunteerism.

    CS Base founder and CHS student Rao received the award on behalf of the 600-plus CS Base volunteers. Rao's organization was the medalist in the Service Through STEM award.

    CS Base holds a computer science camp each summer at the Library of the Chathams. The 2024 camp is set for Aug. 19 through Aug. 24. Sign up for the camp at: https://chathamlibrary.org/summer-coding-camp/ .
