    The state’s Office of Outdoor Recreation has announced a total of $2,609,375 in grants from the Recreational Trails Program for eight communities across Tennessee

    Chattanooga, TN – According to the statement, housed within the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), the Office of Outdoor Recreation administers the RTP program.

    This program provides federal funding to support local government investments in various aspects of trail development, including land acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, non-routine maintenance, and trailhead support facilities.

    The grants awarded aim to enhance recreational trail systems across the state, improving access and amenities for outdoor enthusiasts.

    The grants awarded from the Recreational Trails Program are as follows:

    • Access Fund, Marion: $196,975 for the Foster Falls Stewardship Initiative.
    • City of Crossville, Cumberland: $392,000 for the Meadow Park Trailhead Facility.
    • Doe Mountain Recreation Authority, Johnson: $392,000 for Trail Development.
    • Grainger County, Grainger: $392,000 for the County Park ADA Compliant Trail.
    • City of Hendersonville, Sumner: $392,000 for the Veterans Park Pump Track.
    • City of Jackson, Madison: $392,000 for the Cypress Grove Boardwalk Replacement.
    • Town of Jonesborough, Washington: $392,000 for the Lost State Scenic Walkway Expansion.
    • Town of Oliver Springs, Roane: $60,400 for the Arrowhead Park Improvements.

    Trails are nice and all but baseball fields and swimming pools are critically needed . Les’s pool sun Rutherford county than back in 1980 .
