Chattanooga, TN – According to the statement, Chattanooga Fire Department’s Blue Shift companies responded to the 1500 block of Bradt Street, finding heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the structure.

All occupants, including small children, had already evacuated the residence.

Firefighters quickly attacked the blaze, knocking down the flames and gaining control of the fire. Crews then moved to check for hotspots, conduct salvage operations, and overhaul the area. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

Both sides of the duplex sustained significant damage, and the Red Cross is assisting 11 displaced individuals. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Smoke alarms and the swift actions of neighbors helped alert the residents.

Special thanks were extended to those who called 911 and to the Chattanooga Police Department for providing a Spanish-speaking officer to assist in communication with the victims.

Several units responded to the scene, including Squad 1, Engine 1, Ladder 1, Engine 4, Engine 12, Engine 5, Ladder 5, Engine 15, Squad 13, Engine 6, battalion chiefs, and investigators, along with EPB, CPD, and HCEMS.
