Chattanooga, TN – Recent reports indicate that an individual posing as a Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) officer has been soliciting money from residents via email.

The CPD emphasizes that it will never request money for general services or protection through any form of communication.

If you receive an email from someone claiming to be a CPD officer asking for money, do not respond or send any funds. Instead, verify the identity of the alleged CPD staff member by calling the CPD reception at (423) 643-5000.

Remember, never give or send money to someone you have never met. Stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

    This story will be updated.
