Chattanooga, TN – Per reports, the Chattanooga woman was able to escape her burning home on Monday morning as smoke and flames rapidly spread throughout the residence.

At 8:17 AM on June 3, 2024, Red Shift companies responded to the 900 block of Rockway Drive following multiple 911 reports of a house fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames originating from the back of the house, with the fire advancing into the attic and smoke spreading toward the front. Crews launched an immediate fire attack, searching the basement while other teams entered through the front door. Firefighters also checked nearby homes to ensure the fire wasn’t spreading, particularly to the house next door.

The sole occupant was outside and unharmed, confirming to fire officials that no one else was inside. Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) personnel quickly knocked down the fire and remained on scene to pull ceilings, fully extinguish the attic, and address any hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Due to extensive damage to the structure, the Red Cross will be assisting the displaced resident. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

Units on the scene included Engine 4, Ladder 5, Engine 5, Squad 13, Ladder 13, Battalion 1, Battalion 2, Hamilton County EMS, Chattanooga Police Department, Red Cross, CFD Supply, and CFD Investigations.
