Sparta Returns Industrial Board For Development
Sparta reconstituted its Industrial Development Board Thursday afternoon, after some 20 years without one. Mayor Jerry Lowery said the board is necessary because state law dictates that any industrial development in the city is negotiated by the county commission without it. Lowery said the board will foster development opportunities as they arise and watch for any properties the city can purchase to entice companies.

A very humid weather pattern continues through Friday and into the weekend. This pattern will keep daily rounds of showers and storms in the forecast for most of the next 5-7 days. While not all day wash outs there will be some interruptions in outdoor plans at times. The overall severe threat is low with the main threats beings heavy downpours and frequent lightning/thunder. A few isolated stronger storms could provide some strong gusts.
