Grand Jury Murder Indictment
District Attorney Jason Schmidt announced that 33 year old Darius Kadenhead of Buffalo, New York was indicted by a Grand Jury and arraigned yesterday, July 16th, in Chautauqua County Court on a charge of Murder in the Second Degree arising from the shooting death of Marlon Clay which occurred on January 22nd at the Parkview Apartments in Jamestown. Bail was set by Hon. David W. Foley at $2.5 million cash, or in the alternative, $5 million property bond or $10 million secured by the posting of 10%.
Falconer Woman Sentenced to Prison for Kennedy Arson
(WNY News Now) – Kennedy, NY – Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt announced today that Aubrey Baize, 30, of Falconer, was sentenced in Chautauqua County Court by Judge David W. Foley to an indeterminate state prison term of 4 to 12 years. Baize was convicted by a Chautauqua County jury on April 25, 2024, of Arson in the Third Degree, a class C felony.

County Jail Inmate Faces Escape Charge After Jumping from Jail Roof
A Chautauqua County Jail inmate who was involved in an incident in the Dunkirk-Fredonia area last month is facing a new charge after he briefly escaped custody on Thursday. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division says 36-year-old Eric Ryals of Alabama gained access to the jail's rooftop at about 12:30 PM and ran from corrections officers who were actively pursuing him. Ryals allegedly ignored commands to surrender while on the roof, then jumped from the roof and exited the facility when he landed on the lawn, on the Elm Street side of the facility. Ryals was quickly taken into custody, as a perimeter had been set up surrounding the jail. Ryals was transported to ECMC for treatment of injuries he suffered during his escape. No members of the public were harmed. A warrant charging Ryals with 1st-degree escape was signed by the Chautauqua Town Court judge.

A Buffalo man has been identified and formally indicted in a Jamestown ‘execution-style’ homicide. District Attorney Jason Schmidt announced Wednesday that 33-year-old Darius Kadenhead has been indicted by a grand jury and arraigned in Chautauqua County Court on a charge of second-degree murder arising from the shooting death of Marlon Clay which occurred on Jan. 22 at the Parkview Apartments in Jamestown.
