Farmers and Artisans Markets in Cheatham County 2024

    By Lee Rennick,

Over the last five years, according to IBIS World , farmer’s markets have grown 7.5% to a $1.3 billion industry. They allow personal connections to develop between farmers and shoppers. Also, by cutting out the middleman, farmers receive more food dollars, shoppers receive the freshest locally grown food, and local economies thrive.

Fruits and vegetables are the number one item purchased, followed by meat and dairy. Other food products like sauces, handmade pasta, flavored oils come in third.

Cheatham County offers a number of Farmers’ Markets that provide locally grown produce, meats, cheeses, other food items, plants, and fine crafts.

This is the 40 th year of the Ashland City Farmers and Artisans Market. It takes place at Riverbluff Park in the Chris LaCrosse Pavilion located off Highway 49 and the Tennessee Waltz Parkway.

The market began with the help of the Cheatham County Chamber of Commerce, community leaders and local producers and crafters. Last year they added food trucks along the river. Perennial favorite J’s Meats and More will be there once again, as well as many more purveyors of local foods and crafts, as well as great music.
