(WFXR)– During the early morning on Friday, July 19, an issue with Microsoft IT sparked an internet outage that impacted a majority of the world. “Every single thing that we add to a system- also becomes a potential problem,” said Wade Baker, a Collegiate Associate Professor of Integrated Security at Virginia Tech. “And in this case, keeping that one piece of software up to date took out millions and millions of computers around the world- and organizations can’t do business- can’t process sales and lots of other things because of it- so it’s a big mess.”
