Thunderstorms ignite several new fires in the Methow region
Lightning storms ignited several new fires in and around the Methow Valley in the past week, closing the North Cascades Highway and many trails along the highway corridor. Still, those fires remain small compared with the human-caused Pioneer Fire on Lake Chelan, which had grown to 30,667 acres as of Tuesday (July 23).
Town & Country Markets debuts in-store restaurant
Seattle-area grocery chain Town & Country Markets is taking on restaurants with the debut of a market-to-table restaurant called Field House. The grocer collaborated with chef and restaurateur Ethan Stowell on the concept’s menu, which serves up “classic favorites drawing inspiration from the markets’ pantries, seasonal ingredients and regional purveyors,” the announcement said.

In a surprising turn of events, West Seattle's Lincoln Park will be the new home of Cantanna Fest, a large-scale cannabis and music festival, on August 10th and 11th. The event, organized by Scott McKinley and rapper Redman, was originally slated to take place at Franklin Farms in Snohomish but had to be relocated just weeks before the scheduled date due to contractual issues.
Spokane County deputies intervene in violent assault; suspects booked for DUI and assault
SPOKANE, Wash. – Deputies intervened in a violent assault, resulting in one suspect being booked for DUI and another for assault and obstruction. According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, on July 24 at about 10:35 p.m., deputies on patrol near North Division Street and West Lyons Avenue heard yelling. They saw a woman on the ground being punched and kicked by 18-year-old Alyssa Smith, with two men nearby.
