Three people killed during Chemung crash

CHEMUNG, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Three people died after a two-car crash in the Town of Chemung on Friday evening.

According to the New York State Police Department, a 2018 Nissan Maxima was driving west on I-86 shortly before 4:51 p.m. on July 19 when it crossed over the median. The car then drove into the eastbound lane and hit a 2015 Accura RDX.

The 36-year-old male driver of the Nissan, the Accura’s 18-year-old male driver, and the Accura’s 44-year-old female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The crash is under investigation, and the names of the victims have not been publicly released at this time.

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, the New York State Department of Transportation, the Chemung Fire Department, Greater Valley Emergency Medical Services, and the Wellsburg Fire Department assisted the New York State Police Department at the scene of the crash.
