    U-E graduate and mother killed in crash

    UPDATE: According to the New York State Police Department, a third person was killed in the crash.

    A 2018 Nissan Maxima operated by a 36-year-old male was driving west on I-86 shortly before 4:51 p.m. when it crossed over the median. The car then drove into the eastbound lane and hit a 2015 Accura RDX, driven by Colin Ferrell.

    The investigation is ongoing.

    (WIVT/WBGH) – A member of Union-Endicott’s graduating class of 2024 and his mother have passed away in a fatal car accident.

    Colin Ferrell and Tiffany Ferrell were killed in a head-on collision on I-86 eastbound in the town of Chemung Friday afternoon. Colin and Tiffany were returning home from college orientation. According to police, they were pronounced dead at the scene.

    In a statement from the Union-Endicott School District, Superintendent Nicole Wolfe and UEHS Principal Steven DiStefano describe Colin as a kind and compassionate student who loved baseball. Tiffany was said to be a dedicated volunteer and was involved in many school and community related activities.
