HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Annual Hope Reno County event is happening at the Kansas State Fairgrounds later this week. "It's a free event that happens Saturday, July 27th," said Matt Stafford with Convoy of Hope. "We will open the gates, which is Gate 5 at the Kansas State Fairgrounds, and there's going to be a ton of things that we're going to be giving away. One of them is backpacks, elementary kids and middle school, high school kids. We're going to have two different backpacks and also free groceries, and there may be some other items. There's going to be some snow cones there while you're waiting in line.

Walk-In Enrollment, Back to School Fair Tuesday
Walk-in enrollment at Salina Public Schools is scheduled for this week, along with the Saline County Back to School Fair. While online enrollment has been going on for a couple of weeks, those who would prefer to enroll in person can do so on Tuesday. Walk-in enrollment will be located at Central High School, 650 E. Crawford. The event will take place on Tuesday, July 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Students in the Kansas City area have racked up thousands of dollars in school lunch debt since universal free lunch ended two years ago. More than 12,000 students aspiring for careers in healthcare from around the world converged in Houston, Texas on June 26-29 for the HOSA Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference. Six Great Bend High School students qualified for the international competition, and five students attended. Seniors Eliana Teri and Cailyn Murphy placed eighth out of 88 teams competing in the medical innovation category.
